TSimit is a circular bread, typically encrusted with sesame seeds or, less commonly, poppy, flax or sunflower seeds, found across the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire, and the Middle East. SULTAN'S GIFT - The bagel, dating back 600 years ago, was called the “Sultan’s gift” as a special food that the Ottoman sultans presented to the soldiers after their iftar meals.
